REVIEW: Divergent, Insurgent & Allegiant

Divergent (Divergent #1) Blurb
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Insurgent (Divergent #2) Blurb
One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love. Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors.

Allegiant (Divergent #3) Blurb
The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories. But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless.

Veronica Roth you have truly outdone yourself! This series is absolutely Brilliant easily the best dystopian book I've read since the hunger games, Roth completely hit the nail on the head with this book! she hit the Dystopian jackpot!  the main plot consists of following Tris' initiation and survival but there is the sub-plot of a few love stories which I am an absolute sucker for however the summary refused to give away any of the large plot points such as which faction Tris chooses or who she falls in love with. What I really enjoyed about this book compared to other dystopian books was that the characters actually had a choice, they didn't have built up angst, which I though was an absolute pleasure to read which is why I said Roth hit the nail on the head its has a different aspect to it. The books flow so well together and I literally could not put it down, I read all three in three days.

I find that the thing that pulls me in most by any book are the main characters, this sucked me in so much I honestly felt like Tris, Four and myself are best friends. I love Tris she is so badass and brave and I took an instant liking to her character from the first two pages of the book, the characters are so well set-up it makes it very hard to make any sort of critique about them, apart from the fact I really would have liked to learn a little bit more about Four's Dad, Marcus he is a very interesting character and I would have liked to know more about his background and understand why he is the way he is. I had heard great things about this book before I read it, it particularly interested me because I have a fascination with personalities/personality types anyway and this just fueled my fire, the factions are a brilliant concept, I don't want to give away any spoilers but there is a lot more to the books than just the factions.

like most books there is always a disappointment.... and mine was the entire 3rd book Allegiant which actually only came out a few weeks ago. It wasn't a complete disappointment the first half was actually really good, but the last half just confused me, not because i didn't understand it, but because it seemed rushed like the author had some great ideas and they were all crammed into a few pages. Something big happens to one of the characters and it kind shadowed by other sub-plots in the book and almost ignored, which i was quite irritated by actually along with the epilogue, you will know what I mean after you read it I don't want to give too much away.

Conversely as disappointing as I was with the end half of the 3rd book the other two completely make-up for it and I would read this series again and again. I give it five stars as my rating, I am so in love with this series and would recommend it to everyone.

All of the books carry a very serious tone, when I would get very worked up about a high stress section of the book, Roth would Alleviate the situation, the book digs deep and challenges your emotions, so prepare yourself you might  laugh, cry, awe and sigh. It is very captivating how she can make emotions change like a flick of a switch, she is very brilliant. If I was in the book I would genuinely be divergent/genetically healed because I have so many interests and I could never be always honest or always selfless etc. If I had to choose I would choose Dauntless.
What faction would you choose?
